报告人简介:
Dr. Dong Zeng received his Ph. D in chemical engineering from Brigham Young
University. He is currently a Senior Lead Research Scientist at FM Global
Research division, Norwood, MA, USA. His research interests include material
flammability, pyrolysis modeling, fire dynamic, and CFD modeling. Prior to
joining FM Global, Dr. Zeng was a principle engineer at the Babcock and
Wilcox Company, Ohio, USA, and was responsible for developing an advanced
coal pyrolysis and char oxidation model, and leaded several large-scale
pilot test projects such as the development of in-bed heat exchanger for
supercritical circulating fluidized bed boiler.
报告摘要:
Fire propagation apparatus (FPA) was originally developed by FM Global for
measuring the material flammability such as fire propagation index. FPA has
been standardized in ASTM and ISO. Recently, FPA was widely utilized as a
research tool for measuring material flammability, thermal decomposition
model development, radiative characteristics of condensed fuel, and complex
materials such as delaminating and mixed complex fuels. In this lecture, the
major functionality of FPA will be discussed and compared to cone
calorimeter. The recent and current research activities related to FPA
application will be reported and discussed. The potential application of FPA
on material approval will also be discussed.
